Who We Are

Patient brokering is an illegal practice that preys on people struggling with chaotic substance use and other marginalized populations. This exploitation has led to harmful consequences for the individuals involved, including receiving inappropriate or ineffective treatment, financial manipulation, and perpetuation of addiction.

We are a dedicated team of advocates, survivors, and professionals committed to assisting individuals who have experienced exploitation, abuse, or unethical practices within the substance use recovery and mental health treatment systems.

We are working hard to provide a platform for advocacy, awareness-raising, and support services for individuals affected by patient brokering. If you or someone you know has been a victim of patient brokering, we are here to help.

Those who have been directly impacted by patient brokering,

whether as victims or concerned family members, lack supportive measures to assist in ending the cycle of abuse. The Midnight Path Society provides a platform for advocacy, awareness-raising, and support services for individuals affected by patient brokering

Individuals exhibiting these indicators, as well as their families, may be considered for assistance.

We collect and handle sensitive information with care, following established protocols to safeguard survivors' rights and confidentiality.

Article: The Orange County Register

"Journalists from the Southern California News Group have spent months investigating and reporting on the local drug treatment industry. They have interviewed dozens of sources and sifted through thousands of pages of reports and court documents.

The resulting stories show how and why Southern California has become a hub for drug treatment centers, with more than a thousand of them in the greater Los Angeles area."
